car

We compared the Cadillac Escalade with two of the most popular luxury SUV’s on the market: the Acura MDX and Lexus GX. Find out how the Cadillac Escalade fared in terms of engine power and fuel economy, safety, and price.

Engine Power and Fuel Economy

The Cadillac Escalade is powered by a 6.8-liter V8 engine with 403hp. This engine achieves 14/18 MPG in city and highway driving. The Acura MDX is powered by a smaller 3.7-liter V6 with 300hp and a fuel rating of 16/21 MPG. The Lexus GX has a large 4.6-liter V8 engine that churns out 301hp and achieves 15/20 MPG.

Verdict: With a large 6.8-liter V8 engine, the Escalade tops the Acura MDX and the Lexus GX when it comes to engine power.. The smaller V6 engine of the Acura MDX makes it the most fuel-efficient vehicle in our tests.

Safety

Only the Acura MDX was named as a 2012 IIHS Top Safety Pick, earning the highest score of ‘Good’ in front-offset and side impact protection. However, the Escalade received an overall 4 stars from the NHTSA, while earning 5 out of 5 stars for front and side-impact protection. The Lexus GX was not yet tested by the NHTSA and the IIHS, but it does have an impressive amount of standard safety features for the price.

Verdict: The Acura MDX is a top safety pick, but the Escalade also scores well in protecting the driver and the passengers in a collision.

Price

The Acura MDX is the cheapest SUV in our test, followed by the Lexus GX. The Cadillac Escalade is the most expensive in the group, but it does come with a bevy of standard luxury features with a larger and more powerful V8 engine.

Rebate or Incentive – Guide to Choosing on a new Cadillac Escalade

No matter what you choose, rebates and incentives will make your car lease or vehicle loan more affordable and easier on the pocket.

You should first check your credit score. Remember that financing incentives are usually reserved for car buyers with a good or excellent credit history. You should also refer to your local bank or seek assistance from your credit union and try to get pre-approved for a new vehicle loan. In that way, you will find it easier to compare the APR rates and determine which will save you more money in the long run.

On the other hand, if you are buying in cash or if you have below-than-average credit score, you should take the cash rebates and treat it as an additional discount. You can also use the cash rebates as part of your down payment. This will give you lower monthly payments compared to a conventional auto loan or lease.

Requesting a FREE online price quote is a no-cost solution to saving money on your new Cadillac vehicle. You can find Cadillac Escalade rebates and incentives in much less than the time it takes to visit every Cadillac dealer in town. There is no need to haggle and there is no obligation to buy!
