Due to the big state’s budget crisis, California’s excellent program for electric car buyers (offering a great rebate) was really closed to disappearing this week. Luckily for new buyers and for the environment, the rebate survived and it will be for a maximum of $2.500, which might disappoint some buyers as last year’s incentives reached double that amount.

2011 is the third year for this amazing program and CARB has announced that about $40 million will be given in funds. This amount will be distributed amongst zero emissions trucks and buses, plug in cars and some technology demonstrations.

Besides this incentive, the $7.500 federal income tax credit will also be given to electric car buyers, only that this amount will be returned when you do your taxes next year.
