The state of Hawaii has recently added $350,000 to its rebate program on electric vehicles. It has also extended the deadline for new buyers to pick up their rebates by seven months.

Besides the $7,500 from the federal rebate, each customer will receive as much as $4,500 on any electric vehicle and $500 on chargers.

Hawaii is also working hard in installing charging stations in each county. This initiative is part of he EV Ready Program , which corresponds to a huge 4.5 million funding program from the U.S. Department of Energy.

It is the state’s intention to reduce fuel usage by 70% by the year 2030.

Toyota’s first plug-in hybrid, The Prius 2012, comes with great reviews and it is set to achieve 11 miles as a fully electric vehicle plus it is also a zero emissions car.

This vehicle will be eligible for California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP) which offers a $1,500 rebate on purchased cars or if leased over a period of thirty six months or more.

The 2012 plug in version is less expensive than other electric vehicles in the market and it also qualifies for a $2,500 federal tax credit available only for the purchase of any emissions-free plug in cars.

As one of the new features, this model will allow owners to charge the vehicle remotely when using a smartphone.
