Spring has finally sprung in the U.S. after a brutally cold couple of winter months. Winter months where consumers did not buy as many new vehicles as projected. This winter vortex did not only affect auto dealers, but retail, manufacturing and employment numbers are also down as well. With warmer temperatures on the way, car dealers will make some big moves to try to out sell their competitors in the second quarter of 2014.

They’ll do so by implementing big incentives and discounts, which are likely to inspire their competitors to do the same. Incentive wars, with each automaker trying to one-up the others in order to dominate new car sales, should be a reality very soon.

What does this mean for you? If you are in the market to purchase a new vehicle in 2014, this spring may be the best time to do so. With pricing and incentive wars heating up, you will be in the driver’s seat with free, local car quotes from www.CarDealerRebates.com.

General Motors made an announcement today that they are offering a $500 rebate toward a new GM vehicle or a loaner vehicle to GM car owners whose cars were recalled for a faulty and potentially dangerous ignition switch in older cars. The only catch, you have to ask for the benefits. The $500 cash allowance rebate expires April 30th, 2014, so you have to act quickly in order to take advantage of this rebate.

GM admits that 12 people have dies because of the glitch. It has landed GM in hot water with the Department of Justice, as an investigation into the handling of the recall is set to occur. Two congressional committees, one from each party, are also said to be looking into the matter. GM admitted that they knew about the faulty ignition switch for over a decade.

Last month, on Feb. 13, GM announced the recall of more than 780,000 Chevy Cobalts and Pontiac G5s (model years 2005-2007). A couple weeks later it added 842,000 Saturn Ion compacts (2003-2007), and Chevrolet HHR SUVs and Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky sports cars (2006-2007 to the recall list. If you have one of these vehicles, head over to CarDealerRebates.com to check on the latest rebates from local dealers in your area.
