Maryland Poised to Increase and Extend EV Rebates

Maryland’s state legislature passed a bill last month hoping to encourage electric car purchases in the state. HB 1345 would extend Maryland’s electric tax credit three more years, through June 30th, 2017. The maximum tax incentive would also increase under the bill’s guidelines. The $1000 tax credit would be raised to $3000 after the bill goes into effect, which is scheduled for June 30th, 2014.

If the governor signs the bill, it would replace Maryland’s current $400 tax credit for installing electric-car charging stations with rebates of up to $900 for individuals and $5000 for businesses. The Maryland charging station program would have a cap at 600,000 per year with rebates available until June 2017.
