This is great news for the Nashville community. The state has announced they will be adding yet another hybrid model to their rebate program: the popular Chevrolet Volt.

As of last Tuesday, Nashville’s only available hybrid car (all electric) in this program, was the Nissan Leaf.

The rebate the state will be offering is of $2,500 for the proud owners of the electric Chevy car.

The only condition to receive this rebate, is to agree to provide information on the usage/charging on the vehicles. This information will be then analyzed by ECOtality, a company based in California.

If you are an enthusiast on high tech and better options for living, this is certainly good news for you. Ford has currently chosen to have a partnership with SunPower. SunPower is a corporation that “designs and manufactures high-efficiency crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells, roof tiles and solar panels based on a silicon all-back-contact solar cell invented at Stanford University”

The manufacturer will offer its customers the chance to obtain a 2.5-kilowatt rooftop solar system if you buy the next generation of Ford Focus Electric, or the later on to come: C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid. This system will create about 3,000 kWh of electricity per year. You will then be able to drive at least 1,000 miles a month.
