Kia’s Newest Hybrid: The Optima
Hybrids have become a smart and easy way to save money on gas and contribute to the environment. Some people may say you can’t get the same performance and range from a regular gas or diesel car, however, newer technologies and upgraded systems are allowing hybrid cars to have an outstanding performance.
The new 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid is no exception. This model comes with a six-speed planetary gearbox instead of the preferred CVTs used by many competitors. The power is provided by a “Theta” 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine, 40 horsepower permanent electric motor and the 6 speed automatic. The stylish model comes also with an “Active Eco System” which allows the regulation of the engine management system and the change of transmission shift points, therefore performance can be either increased or decreased.
